What if the deadline passes with no reply?
Ask for an internal review first. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Scottish Act of 2002 a public body has 20 working days; if it misses that, or refuses, request a review, and if the review does not satisfy you complain to the Information Commissioner, or apply to the Scottish Information Commissioner. Under the US federal Act a missed 20-business-day determination lets you appeal administratively and then sue in federal district court.
